Land Preparation for New Age American Homes

Leveling & Foundations

Site Selection & Permits

Choose a site with stable soil, good drainage, and clear access for delivery. Verify all local zoning, building codes, and permits before beginning any site work.

Clearing & Ground Leveling

Remove all vegetation, debris, and obstacles from the build area. The ground must be carefully excavated, graded, and compacted to create a flat, stable surface. Proper drainage should direct water away from the foundation to prevent settling or erosion.

Foundation Options

Gravel Base: Most cost effective and recommended suitable for all installations with proper drainage.
Concrete Slab: Excellent option however most costly for permanent installations; reinforced and a minimum of 6 inches thick.

Typical Gravel Base Specifications

4″–6″ of compacted gravel is common for many home base pads.
5 cubic yards of gravel or 7 tons is suggested for a 4″ base on our 386 sq ft homes.
8 cubic yards of gravel or 10 tons is suggested for a 6″ base on our 386 sq ft homes.

Material Types

Good gravel for a base includes:

¾″ crushed stone (sharp/clear gravel): Excellent drainage and compaction.
Road base / crusher run (ABC): Mixture of stone sizes with fines that compact well and support loads.
Extend the gravel pad 2′ wider and longer than the home footprint so the home sits fully on the firm base.

Flood & High-Wind Areas

For hurricane or flood-prone regions, embedded anchors in the foundation are strongly recommended to secure the home against uplift and movement.

Delivery Access

Ensure that access routes can safely accommodate delivery trucks and heavy equipment.
